Memory: 2GB RAM Processor: 2Ghz Intel Core2 Duo or equivalent Graphics: 512MB Direct3D 10 capable video card (GeForce 8800 GT or Radeon HD 2900XT) OS: 32bit. We know the two games were made relatively similar together and use very similar iterations of the same engine. Omgea, the third is a GTX 970 from EVGA, their GeForce GTX 970 FTW with ACX 2. I bought and installed CoH2 recently and was dismayed to discover that the graphics look rather poor, and they appear to be extremely poorly optimized at. I feel like we’ve discussed this one before though haha. ![]() Textures are both a memory thing and a runtime thing (see: texture streaming). The bigger problem (imo) are the texture maps (and the requisite increase on things like lighting to account for any higher levels of detail). The polys do matter because a lot of the faces (for example) lack anywhere near the polyflow you can see in the CoH 3 shots. Players will still capture specific flagged points all over the map to collect munitions and fuel credits, which will be invested in assembling their units. 9 Gameplay Resources The resource-generation system from the first game has been modified. In fairness, aoe4’s unit problem has nothing to do with polygon count or shading imo, these would hurt performance as you state, but more so with the current style on units not really being made in mind with current scaling, the simplistic textures for instance, being just blobs of 1 color with no patterns and so on, changing unit style wouldn’t hurt performance 8 A sequel, Company of Heroes 3, was released in February 2023. ![]()
